Here’s everything you need to know about who might take home the $600,000 top prize.
After spending two years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Esports World Cup is on the road for the 2026 installment. This summer, the action will take place in Paris, France, with players from 24 different esports titles flocking to the French capital.
The event got underway on July 2, with the start of the Valorant event. However, as we hit the second week, attention turns to another of Riot Games’ iconic titles – League of Legends.
Last year, Gen.G took home the glory and $600,000 grand prize, defeating AG.AL International in an epic final. They will be in Paris to defend their title, with 15 other challengers to their throne.
Just like last year, the Esports World Cup will be broadcast across YouTube and Twitch, so you can choose which platform you’d prefer to watch on.
And even though there will be multiple matches in each game taking place at once, don’t worry, you won’t miss a minute of the action thanks to multiple streams.
The group stage of the League event gets underway on July 15, with every team in action on the first day. The top two teams in each of the four groups will progress to the play-off stage.
As noted, last year’s champions Gen.G are back to defend their crown, with a hungry pack of challengers wanting to dethrone them. That includes the iconic T1 lineup, as well as G2 and Karmine Corp.
Karmine will have plenty of support in France, seeing as they’re defending home turf, but it’ll be a raucous stage for each of the 16 teams.
